This blog is not about sports. I don’t cover sports ever. Surfing, swimming , paddle boarding, canoe paddling and more are sports highly identified with the Hawaiian Islands. They do make for good pictures if you are in a good spot to take in the action with a camera. Most of the time I am not.
The Duke Kahanamoku Statue in Waikiki is located along Kalakaua Avenue just Diamond Head of the Waikiki Police Station.
The annual Duke Kahanamoku Oceanfest “is held each summer in Waikiki in honor of Hawaiian legend Duke Paoa Kahanamoku, who is fondly remembered as the greatest waterman who ever lived. Held at venue sites throughout Waikiki, OceanFest features a variety of ocean sports that were close to Duke’s heart, including Surfing, Paddleboard Racing, Swimming, Volleyball, and more.”
