Cracker Toast is a Tasty Breakfast Meal

Complete cracker toast dish. Very tasty!

Long, long ago when I was a kid, my Mom taught me how to make one of the most tasty and simple meal or snack. Cracker Toast. It is something that she used to eat while growing up on Kukaiau Ranch back in the late 1930s and 1940s.

Cracker Toast goes great with other breakfast type foods such as scrambled eggs, bacon, rice and/or spam. Yum, yum.

I originally created Uncle Mel’s Cracker Toast page many years ago; The rest of this post is lifted from that page and transferred here, with some editing.

The easiest, tastiest breakfast food that you ever made!

Photos taken in 2003; it was the last Cracker Toast with Hilo Saloon Pilots.

What you need:

Butter or margerine for spread
Mixture of sugar and cinnamon – mix to taste.
Traditional pop up toaster or toaster oven.

How To Make It

2. Heat cracker(s) until warm or even slightly dark.
3. Spread butter on top.
4. Sprinkle sugar and cinnamon mix.
5. Eat it.

Notes

This is a recipe that my Mom used to make for us when we were kids. She grew up in a wonderful place where this kind of meal was eaten in the morning or maybe anytime of the day, especially when the weather was cold. Cracker Toast makes for a great part of a breakfast meal. I like to eat this with hot chocolate and a scrambled egg.

It is best to eat your cracker toast while it is still warm or hot.

Cracker Recommendations: Hilo Saloon Pilot Crackers – unfortunately unavailable since the cracker factory closed in 2003. Diamond brand saloon pilots are an acceptable substitute.

Try Cracker Toast. You’ll like it!
