U.S. Post Office – Ala Moana Station 96814
HAWAII PLACES | U.S. POST OFFICE – ALA MOANA CENTER
The U.S. Post Office (USPS) has been in operation at Ala Moana Center for many decades and is an important stop if you need window service and want to send out cards, letters and parcels. Despite having no mailboxes for customers to rent, they do provide a wide range of services found in most post offices such as registered/certified mail, stamp sales, parcel delivery and machine vending.
The USPS Ala Moana Center Station is open 6 days a week — Monday through Friday from 9:00 am to 5:00 pm and on Saturdays from 9:00 am to 4:30 pm. Mail pick-up times are 12:30 pm and 5:00 pm, Monday – Saturday. In the past this post office used to be open for extended hours and Sunday service during the Christmas season.
Speaking of Christmas, the postal service’s new OurSeason.com website is up and includes information such as package tracking and important holiday deadlines.
The holiday deadline for domestic mailings are as follows:
- December 19 – First Class Mail Service
- December 21 – Priority Mail Service
- December 23 – Priority Mail Express Service
Deadlines differ for mail being sent to international and military addresses. Today (Dec. 1) is the deadline for First Class and Priority Mail to most international destinations.
Overall I have found the Post Office workers at the Ala Moana Station to be very pleasant and totally professional when dealing with your mail. They are able to answer questions regarding stamps, parcels, mailing labels, deadlines and more. The staff deals with all kinds of customers ranging from nearby business mailers, to residents and many tourists.
Wait times are reasonable unless you are a last minute mailer sending stuff out on the deadline days. Then all bets are off as lines and wait times can be quite long. It is best to do your mailing early.
