New Remix of Bruddah IZ’s Classic Hit

Here’s a new spin on a classic old Israel Kamakawiwo’ole tune. The worldwide hit “Somewhere Over the Rainbow / What a Wonderful World” is back in a new remix by Robin Schulz and Alle Farben. The two are apparently EDM producers who have spent time remixing songs.

From the Q magazine (may need to use Google Translate) website: “Robin Schulz and Alle Farben enhanced the original song with their signature combination of gently propelling rhythms and a deeply emotional vibe.”

“Somewhere Over the Rainbow / What a Wonderful World” is a medley originally recorded by Israel Kamakawiwo’ole  (popularly known as Bruddah IZ or simply IZ) for his 1990 album Ka Anoi and then again in a new acoustic version for his 1993 album Facing Future. The song proved to be popular on the radio since its release and became a big international hit after being featured on several television commercials and movies.

I am not sure how this new EDM remix fares from a legal viewpoint. I wonder if the Mountain Apple record company is aware of the remix.

As presented in the video above, I think this upbeat version by Schulz and Farben brings an updated feel to the timeless classic.
