Huey in Waikiki

Huey in Waikiki

It’s not every day that you see a helicopter paraded through the streets in Waikiki. That happened yesterday at the Memorial Day Parade which traversed down Kalakaua Avenue through the high density tourist district.

The parade featured three bands, a number of veteran marching units, flag wavers, soldiers, motorcycle clubs, and custom cars. The highlight was the two helicopters towed on board flatbed tractor trailer trucks. Both choppers, the Bell UH-1 Huey shown above as well as a Bell AH-1 Cobra shown below were in the parade courtesy of the Pacific Aviation Museum at Pearl Harbor / Ford Island.

As is typical for all parades, “a good time was had by all” for everyone in attendance.

God Bless the U.S.A.

Remember our fallen soldier heroes and our dearly departed loved ones this Memorial Day weekend.
