Stopped by the Filipino Fiesta

Filipino FiestaKapiolani Park in Waikiki is always a hub of activity practically every weekend of the year. Yesterday the Filipino community was out in force to celebrate their culture at the Annual Filipino Fiesta event. Music, dancing, food and fun were the order of the day for the community and anyone else who happened to come by.

Spending about a half hour there after returning from an appointment in Waikiki, we were lucky to catch a couple of the music performances that included several folk dances. Here are a few pictures and a three minute video. Filipino dancers use a lot of props such as bamboo, benches and candles. The dances energizes the participants as well as the spectators. It’s all good fun.
