It’s been a blustery week in Hawaii. Typical of Honolulu’s winter season, the week has seen scattered and occasionally heavy rain showers, high surf on the North Shore, choppy waters in other places and generally overcast skies and increased coldness. Yes the temperatures have dipped at times to 69 degrees or lower. It is much lower on the higher elevations of Maui, Oahu and the Big Island. Snow has fallen on the tops of Mauna Kea and Mauna Loa mountains.<\/p>\n

As the photos and video show below, the blustery weather continued into the weekend with more winds, some coldness and rain to come. The overcast skies did not help reveal much of the past week’s first full moon of the new year. There was also a “penumbral” lunar eclipse<\/strong> <\/a>that was only visible in Europe, Africa, Asia and parts of Australia on Friday (January 10).<\/strong><\/a><\/p>\n

There will be 13 full moons in 2020<\/strong><\/a>, with two of them occurring in the month of October, one of the first on the month and the other on Halloween night, October 31.<\/p>\n
