This annual observance is mandated by <a href=\"https:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/Title_36_of_the_United_States_Code\" target=\"_blank\">Title 36 of the United States Code<\/a>. Heart Month is mandated to get the American public aware of heart and blood vessel diseases and programs that can be implemented to solve heart disease problems.<\/p>\n<p>This month is a good time as ever to introduce my readers to a new blog that I started. It&#8217;s called <strong><a href=\"http:\/\/blog.ahching.org\/\" target=\"_blank\">Bypass Avenue, Life&#8217;s Second Chance<\/a><\/strong>. The blog tells my personal story of a heart attack I suffered on December 26, 2015 and my recovery since open heart surgery on December 30. The procedure was done at <strong><a href=\"http:\/\/health.usnews.com\/best-hospitals\/area\/hi\/kaiser-permanente-moanalua-medical-center-6950330\" target=\"_blank\">Kaiser Medical Center in Moanalua<\/a><\/strong>.<\/p>\n<p>This is a major reason why this blog was not updated since my Christmas entry on Dec. 25.<\/p>\n<p>I hope to post regularly here at the <strong><a href=\"http:\/\/weblog.hawaiifiles.com\/\" target=\"_blank\">Hawaii Files<\/a><\/strong> in the near future and will also update my other blogs and websites.<\/p>\n<p>&#8212; <em>Melvin Ah Ching, Editor &amp; Publisher<\/em><\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>According to the American Heart Association, February is Heart Month.
